The International Institute for Outsource Management (IIOM™) was established in June 2007.  However, our roots go back to 1988 when the use of service providers was not even referred to as outsourcers or offshore companies.

 

In those early years many companies relied heavily on their own capabilities to build systems and to provide phone support.  On occassion, contract personnel might be used to supplement normal Information Technology related activities.

 

With burgeoning demand, driven by accelerated technology advancements, and the need for cost saving measures the pursuit of outsourcing became an attractive solution.

Since those early days there has been "the service provider" and the "client".  However, it was soon realized that what might have worked okay on self-directed efforts did not function well when applied to this new mode of operation.  This brings us to today and the support provided through the International Institute for Outsource Management (IIOM).
